Meet Victoria

Actually, Victoria Honeywood isn’t my real name. It’s a pen name I adopted many years ago when I started writing novels. My real name is Deborah, but here in Australia, most people call me Deb.

I was born in Yorkshire, England, and am lucky enough to have lived in some amazing places in my life, including a hillside villa in Malta, an apartment in Paris and a creaky old 16th-century former coaching inn in Kent, England, where centuries ago, pilgrims would stop to rest on their journey from London to Canterbury.

Now my home is in Western Australia near Perth, considered one of the most remote capital cities in the world. I have two handsome grown-up sons, two beautiful grandchildren and a wonderful partner, a fellow Yorkshireman who’s helping me rediscover my Yorkshire roots. Here’s a selfie of us in Florence, Italy.

I’m not a trained artist, but a few years ago I stopped listening to the little voice inside me that told me I couldn’t draw. And, to my surprise, I discovered a wonderful hobby that calms and soothes me, and keeps me engrossed for hours.

For most of my working life, I was employed in the financial services industry, as an insurance broker, probably the least creative thing you could think of. But in my spare time, I liked to write.

I carved out a fun sideline as a freelance writer, writing articles for magazines such as Australian House & Garden, Australian Country Style, The West Australian newspaper. To date, I’ve had about a hundred articles published in various places. I also wrote contemporary romance books with the intention of self publishing them one day. So far I’ve written eight novels and one novella, but, to my shame, seven are still sitting on my hard drive awaiting further editing before publication.

However, one book, Ocean Breezes and Salty Kisses, has made it to Amazon and is available for purchase. Its prequel, The Family Plan, is available for FREE!! They’re both fun, light-hearted reads, the next best thing if you need a holiday as they’re set along Perth’s gorgeous beaches. Click on the images below for more details.

I also host a couple of other blogs. The first is French Rambles, which is all about my passion for France. The other blog I co- host with Peter. It’s called Two Grey Nomads, and it celebrates our love of travel. Our target audience are mature travellers, like ourselves, who are adventurous, but like their creature comforts. People who also have more time on their hands to enjoy life at a slower pace. In recent years, we bought a caravan (hence the blog’s name) so you’ll find some posts about our caravanning adventures as we explore this vast continent.
